Arts Challenge #3
Stop Motion Animation
I was drawn to this challenge initially because I actually really love watching Claymation! My earliest memory of Claymation was watching Gumby as a kid then the movies and TV shows such as Chicken Run, Shaun the Sheep, Wallace and Gromit, The Grogs. While exploring the process of Claymation and stop motion I started messing around with stop motion an app called Stop Motion Studio, and let me tell you, it's been a whole lot of fun!
At first, I was just curious about how it all worked. So, armed with my iPad and scrap paper I gave it a shot. And you know what? It's way easier than it looks. Sure, it takes a bit of patience, but the results are totally worth it. What I love most about stop motion is that you can make anything come to life, whether it's a LEGO figure, a toy car, or even a spoon. All you need is a bit of imagination and a steady hand. But here's the best part: when my 8 year old saw what I was doing, she wanted in on the action too. And let me tell you, she's a natural! She's been making her own little movies ever since, and they're absolutely adorable.
This was the first try using a cloud cut from paper and the paper holes from a hole punch.
This was a second attempt at something longer (used over a 100 photos) and was fun using the LEGO.
